70-200mm 2.8 or 4 ? canon or sigma?

I am thinking to buy 70-200mm lens.
Here are the candidates:

canon 70-200 f/2.8L USM
the best of all candidates, but also with highest price. This is the only problem

canon 70-200 f/4L USM
probably has the best quality/price ratio. one of the sharpest canon zooms. Also lighter and smaller than others. I won’t be able to use AF with this lens and 2x extender (but this is not a big problem as I will not buy 2x soon). The real problem is that is open only up to f/4 and I think that I should buy 2.8 since I like shooting sport. Lowest price of candidates

sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG APO Macro HSM
good price. optically excellent. good construction and build. Lower price than canon 2.8.
When I look at crops and comparisons on the net between these two lenses, differences are very small: sigma has slower focus, warmer colors etc. However all these is very slightly visible on crop that I am looking at now.
The problem is that after I have started to search more info from other photographers, and to read more forums, comments and similar – there are some number of sigmas that perform bad – either they are not so good wide open, or front/back focus problem appears. Others also say that build quality is not sooo good as with canon Ls, but others say that it is very good.

do you have some recommendations?
